Panelrama: A Framework for Cross-Device Applications

We introduce Panelrama, a web framework for the construction of distributed user interfaces (DUI). Our implementation provides developers with low migration costs through built-in mechanisms for the synchronization of UI state and minimal changes to existing languages. Additionally, we describe a solution to categorize device characteristics and dynamically change UI allocation to best-fit devices. Finally, we illustrate the use of Panelrama through a sample application which demonstrates multidevice interaction techniques and collaborative potential. Author
